Learning about friendship, family and acceptance with Descendants 3

Disclaimer: The Fandads were provided a review copy for this post. All thoughts, opinions, and dance moves are our own.

The Descendants movies are a fun series that I have enjoyed watching with my family. Now, while I did not get into the series right away like my children, I did enjoy hearing the songs in the background as I did my daily activities and my children watched the movie. With the third and final movie recently released I decided to let my children share their favorite moments from this installment of the Descendants series.

Now, I could tell you about how this movie has a great message of accepting others, loving who you are, and walls are not necessary, yes they go there, but these are messages that parents notice when watching a movie like this. I could tell you how the songs are catchy and the dance moves make you wish you could dance like them, but I think I've said enough and now it's time for my children to have their say.

Favorite parts of Descendants 3 as told to me by my children.

My Son's favorite moments:

When Uma Appeared

I liked when Uma came out because she was a cool character in the second movie and I likes seeing her sing and dance. I was happy that she came out again. She's a strong girl and that was cool to see.

Celia dancing during the Mal and Hades song

I thought this was funny because every time they showed her she was doing a silly-looking dance. It reminded of me and how I like to dance around the house.

My daughter's favorite moments:

Audrey sings "Queen of Mean"

This was my favorite moment because Audrey really did not have much happen to her in the first two movies and here she has her moment. It's such a great song as we see someone who was once a good person change because she feels that no one likes her anymore and wants to show people that she matters. Instead of doing it the right way by being friendly with everyone, she thinks that having power will make people like her. That is not how you make friends.

When Mal and Uma got along

I felt like Evie whenever I saw Mal and Uma arguing about something. I kept saying to myself, "They need to work together if they want to stop Audrey!" It was when they finally started working together that they were able to see what they could accomplish. This did not last long, because of what Mal did, but they were able to get over it again and join forces to stop Audrey. A lot can get done if you stop bickering with someone and try working together.

Mal and Hades singing together

This is a cool moment because we get to see a little inside of Mal's relationship with her father. I like how they sing together and kind of explain why they are not together, but we also see how Hades not being around made Mal the person who she is. I also feel like this scene makes Hades realize what he has missed by not being around for Mal all her life.

One bittersweet note about watching Descendants 3 is knowing that Cameron Boyce is no longer around to see the love that this movie is getting from his fans. The young, talented actor passed away in July when he had a seizure in his sleep. As parents of a child with Epilepsy, this news hit close to home, but it also showed us that no matter his condition, Cameron lived his life to the fullest and was a triple threat as an entertainer. He will be greatly missed in our household.

Descendants 3 is not out for home release on DVD. The movie comes with a blooper reel, deleted scenes, and a new Descendants short story called Under the Sea.

This highly anticipated Disney Channel Original Movie continues the contemporary saga of good versus evil as the teenage daughters and sons of Disney's most infamous villains - - Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as the villain kids or VKs) -- return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep.

When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it's up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.
