What to do? The RETcon, Hot Dog and Wonder Woman edition

Hey friends, looking for something to do this weekend in Chicago? Our latest installment of What to Do will give you some ideas of how to spend your weekend.

For the Film Buff

If you have yet to see Wonder Woman on the big screen, why not see it in 70mm at one of the coolest theaters in Chicago. The Music Box is has been showing popular movies in 70mm and this weekend they will be showing Wonder Woman. They have also added a show next Wednesday, August 16th.

We will try to make this showing because my daughter has been asking to see it again and what better way to see it than in glorious 70mm.

You can purchase tickets for Wonder Woman here.

For the Hot Dog Lover

While you may not like ketchup on your hot dog, you will have the opportunity to try your hot dog with a variety of toppings at the Chicago Hot Dog Fest. The fest benefits the Chicago History Museum and runs from today until Sunday starting at 11am every day.

The fest will have a lot of family activities, venders and musical acts throughout the weekend. I am not sure if ketchup will be banned at this event, but you will have the opportunity to try many delicious hot dogs.

If you are attending the Hot Dog Fest you can purchase dog dollars here. The dog dollars can be used all weekend and come in three different packages to let you enjoy as many hot dogs as you can. The Hot Dog Fest will take place on Stockton and LaSalle Drive, near the Chicago History Museum.

For the Comic Book Fan

The first ever RETcon Chicago Comic Convention will be held this weekend at the Bailey Auditorium, 1340 W Washington Boulevard, comics, This convention is geared more toward comic books and the artists that create them. At the convention there will be discussion panels, live entertainment, kids activity center, trivia, games + so much more.

If you attend the event you can even meet the artist that created the Fandads logo for us, Rafael Nieves. Tickets for the show are only $15 per day or $25 for both days. Children 10 and under are free. If you want to attend RETcon tickets can be purchased here.

For the Foodie

The last CFC held at the Hard Rock Cafe Chicago

On Sunday, August 13th is the latest in the Culinary Fight Club series and this one is a big one. Past winning chefs will compete to see who is the top chef in Chicago! This event will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe Chicago and tickets are still available.

For the younger super hero fan

This past Tuesday the latest PJ Mask dvd came out entitled, PJ Mask: Time to be a Hero. This new DVD features six exciting episodes from the top-rated TV series airing on Disney Junior. In addition, the new release includes the PJ Masks “Feeling Great” singalong music video as well as exclusive activity sheets so that little heroes can have even more “super” fun at home.  Specially marked packages will also include an exclusive PJ Masks sticker set!

My son is a huge fan of this show and seeing his eyes light up when it arrived was a joy to see. We watched all six episodes a few times and he especially loved the music video that is an added bonus on the disc.

If you have a PJ Mask fan in your household pick up this DVD at your local retailer.
