Time to get your scare on with Halloween Comicfest 2018

Disclaimer: The Fandads were given review comics and giveaway items in exchange for promoting Halloween Comicfest.

It's that time of year again, where local participating comic books stores give out free comics the week before Halloween. This year we have teamed up with our friends at Diamond Comic Distributors to review two of the comics that will be given away and give our readers a chance at winning one of two bundles to share with their friends and family.  Let's begin!

Captain Marvel Production has Began!

Just announced yesterday was that production has begun of the filming of Captain Marvel by Marvel Studios. While I have not kept up on Captain Marvel in the comics like I have other characters, I am excited to see her on the big screen and see how her story will play out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, the return of Agent Coulson...at least on the big screen.

Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer is out and it's huge!!

A few days ago on our Facebook page, I asked our followers, which movie from the 2018 Disney/Marvel line-up were they excited to see. Some of the answers were for Infinity War but my answer was Ant-Man and The Wasp. Lo and behold, it looks like someone heard me because a few days later we got this gem. Yes, Marvel has released the first trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp and it looks amazing.  Also, if you zoom in the poster above you can see our two heroes in action.

Things to do!

The Fandads have been thinking about doing these type of post for a while and here is the debut of a new section where we will highlight things to do in Chicago over the weekend. Depending on what activities are going on we will highlight a few things that we think you and your family will enjoy doing in the city.

Let’s begin.

Steve Dillon

I'm not sure any of us are going to make it out of 2016.

I just found out that Steve Dillon passed away. For those of you that aren't familiar with his work, you may have heard of the new AMC show Preacher based on the comic he co-created with Garth Ennis. I grew up reading the books he worked on including Hellblazer, Preacher, and of course The Punisher.

The Punisher has always been my favorite comic book character and when I picture him I can't help but picture him the way Dillon drew him. Bullseye and so many other iconic characters looked their best when done by Dillon. The current Punisher series is always the first book I read on my pull list and it's not going to be the same without him.

Rest easy Mr. Dillon.

Get ready to be engulfed in Hasbro's Cinematic Universe

When I was younger, I remember playing at my friend Jose's house with his Visionaries figures. In our story, his character, Darkstorm, captured all of the staffs from my characters giving him ultimate power. I had to figure out a way to get my staffs back, but if I remember correctly, his brother quit playing because he thought the whole idea was too farfetched.

Little did we know that the episode we saw the next morning had almost the exact same storyline. It was almost as if my friend predicted the future that day, but who knows if he could have predicted this new storyline that is going to take place on the big screen in the coming years.

DAREDEVIL and PUNISHER invade Chicago this August.

As a fan of "Marvel's DAREDEVIL" I am beyond excited about this recent news from Wizard World.  This, along with JESSICA JONES, has been a fantastic show and I can not wait to see the upcoming LUKE CAGE and IRON FIST series.  I hope I get a chance to interview the cast as I attend this year and find out what's in store for Murdock and Nelson.

Check out the official press release after the jump.

Making memories at C2E2.

The Fandads attended the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo last weekend and as always we had a great time. Last year my daughter went dressed up as Cinderella, this year she brought her Captain Phasma costume with her, but decided against wearing it when we got there. Then she wanted to wear it....then she didn't. Ah, kids and their indecisiveness. Don't all parents love when their kids can't make up their minds?

We saw DEADPOOL and here is our review!

So it is no surprise that DEADPOOL is coming to the theaters in a week. I mean if you have not seen the posters, commercials, or online videos then you obviously have not been paying attention and I would be on the look out that DEADPOOL doesn't get you for not noticing his ads.

Thanks to the fine folks at Fox, the Fandads were able to attend an early screening of the movie and instead of telling you about how fantastic it was, we have decided to give you a list of why you will enjoy watching the movie. So sit back, grab your loved one and read our 10 reasons why you'll love DEADPOOL.

The Civil War is coming, which side will you take?

There was a point in my life when I stopped reading comics. I know right, blasphemy, but it started to become a little overwhelming. With so many mutant titles coming out every week and the Spider-Man series getting a little too ridiculous for me, I mean his parents were alive and might have been clones? Come on Spidey, what are you doing?

Wizard World Chicago 2015 has come and gone and it was a pretty good con this year.  Like with many cons there were a few hiccups here and there, but Wizard World was a fun time for this fan.

"Together we will rule the galaxy" #30DaysofStarWarsShirts Day 13

If this picture looks familiar to you, that's because it was the cover image to issue 35 of the Marvel Star Wars series out in the early eighties.  Now this image is back...in shirt form. (That last sentence is a little nod to Milhouse)

First Picture of Ben Affleck In Batsuit!

So what's all the hubbub about?  Well take a look and see for your self.
