Home is Where the War Is.
I'm not a fan of horror movies. I'll watch some for the hell of it, for the fun factor, but I think most people watch them because they like to be scared. I guess that's why I'm not a fan, other than the occasional jump scene, they don't scare me much. Really, I'm more afraid of having to get up in the morning than possibly encountering a machete wielding murderer. The only movies that could give me a scare were the ones that seemed plausible. The Day After, Red Dawn, even films like The Road, told the type of stories that I could get into.
That's why I've been eagerly awaiting Homefront by THQ. First off, the game is written by John Milius, who co-wrote Apocalypse Now and wrote Red Dawn. They had me at Red Dawn, but then they worked with ex-CIA intelligence officers to work on a plausible storyline. Without getting into too much detail, Homefront basically takes place in the late 2020's, and a unified Korea is invading the country. (Can you say "Wolverines!") A lot of things had to happen in order for this to occur, including gasoline hitting $20 a gallon, but the more I read about the fictional story and timeline, the more I find myself thinking that this could happen.
IGN put up a good article about the game today and the Wikipedia article does a good job of summing the game up. I can't wait to get my hands on Homefront, I'm totally sold, the only question I have now is what platform to get it on.
