Earning Medals and staying fresh like a #Dadlete Can! (Sporty Dad 110)

Disclaimer - The Fandads have teamed up with Russell Athletic and were compensated for this post. All thoughts, opinions and tired feet are our own.

A few months ago I teamed up with Russell Athletic to write about their Cool Force Performance underwear and talked about how they kept my "boys" cool when I was being the sporty Dadlete that I am. Now Russell Athletic has released their new FreshForce™ Performance underwear and what better way for this dadlete to try these out than by running a half marathon with them on? So how did this turn out? Keep reading to see what happened.

Splatoon 2 is here!

Disclaimer: The Fandads were provided with a downloadable copy of Splatoon 2 for this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

What's up everyone! We're back with another review, just in the nick of time. The Switch is an amazing console but some people have been complaining about the lack of "must buy" titles. Well, I'm glad to say that Splatoon 2 might just fit the bill for a "must buy".

I didn't play the first Splatoon very much, but I didn't find that to be a barrier in order to enjoy the sequel. That being said, the Splatoon series seems to have carved itself a nice little niche and has a huge following. It's also had an appeal to those of us who enjoy FPS type games but aren't ready to let our kids mow down people in a violent setting. Splatoon's weapons use paint, which is far friendly than packing lead, well unless it's lead paint...but I digress.

You have shooters or blasters, rollers, chargers, sloshers (buckets), splatings, dualies, and brellas (you guessed it, umbrella weapons). There's also gear to check out that can give you abilities/upgrades, such as Swim Speed Up. You can also get additional slots on your gear for secondary abilities, I could keep going, but to sum it up, there's a lot you can do in the game.

I mentioned earlier that I didn't spend a lot of time with the original Splatoon, but if I remember correctly there wasn't much a single player story or campaign mode. Fortunately Splatoon 2 has got me covered in regards to playing solo. There's a whole story involving a kidnapping which I won't give away, and it seems like it's a decent length. I've been playing for a while and I still haven't finished it, so it's nice to know that the story mode isn't just an add-on or afterthought.

Now, the game isn't perfect by any means. As usual Nintendo drops the ball in the online department. This is the type of game where online communication would really be helpful. As luck would have it, the Nintendo Switch Online App just went live (available on the Google Play store for Android and the App Store for iPhone) and I'm hoping that changes things up. I'm going to try to check that out, so this will remain a "review in progress" but so far, so good. Even before I check that out though, I have to say that this is a great game to pick to play with the kids and with your friends. If you're on the fence and into shooters definitely give Splatoon 2 a shot!

Splatoon 2 is rated E10+, meaning that it's suitable for everyone 10 and over, but I honestly didn't see anything too objectionable for kids as young as 5. It's out now!

Pushing myself to the Limit (Sporty Dad 109)

In mid-June I did something that I did not think I would ever do: I ran the Spartan Super and Spartan Sprint on the same weekend. Completing these two races is a big deal for me because there was a few times during the Super that I just wanted to stop and not do it anymore, but I had a goal for myself and that was to finish no matter what. Not only was finishing these races important to me, but I felt I had to prove something to myself.

Hanging out with the Pitmasters at the Culinary Fight Club

Disclamer - The Fandads were invited to cover the Culinary Fight Club in exchange for tickets to the event. All thoughts, opinions and full stomachs are our own.

I am not really a foodie. I mean, I am not the type that can tell what spices and seasonings were used in a dish just by tasting it, but I love to eat food. Back in the day when I was home with my daughter I would sit and watch the Food Network all day and attempt to try out some of the dishes I would see. Sometimes the dishes were a success while other times they came out so-so.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review #SpiderManHomecoming #Updated

Within the first, say 15 to 20 minutes, of Spider-Man: Homecoming, I knew that Sony has finally given us the Spider-Man movie that we have been waiting for. The movie had everything that you would expect from reading an issue of Spider-Man: humor, tough decisions, action, and a lot of heart. Now, full disclosure, I am a huge Spider-Man fan and going into this movie I was a bit worried, but I walked out of the theater with a big smile on my face and it stayed until the next day.
