Star Trek KRE-O Toy Review and Giveaway.

Recently we did a review of Iron Man toys that we received from Hasbro.  Now with the release of the new Star Trek movie.  Kre-O has released a few sets of their toys based on the upcoming movie.  We here at Fandads were given a few of these items to review and we will give one away to  one of our lucky readers.  So keep reading to see how you can enter.  This is not a paid post, all the opinions in this review are our own.

Now what is the difference between these toys and all the other building toys that are sold in the stores.  There really is no difference, but what is cool is that these toys can connect to your Legos, so the possibility of building is endless.

We were given the opportunity to choose three construction sets to review and I chose: Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise, Star Trek Klingon Bird-of-Prey and one smaller set.  The first set: the U.S.S. Enterprise consists of a whopping 432 pieces and comes with five figures.  This is one of the biggest sets I have ever tried to put together and I think I will have to put it aside until I have the time and space to work on it.  Although my little girl keeps asking me to put it together, I think having a three year old helping me will triple the timeframe I have to finish it.  This set looks amazing and come with what is called Lighttech Technology, which means that once put together, certain parts of it will light up giving it an extra touch of awesome.

The next set that I chose was the Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Is it me, or do the bad guys always have the coolest looking ships: Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator, Darth Vader’s Tie Fighter, Boba Fett’s Slave 1 (Ok, I know these are all Star Wars references, I just got a little carried away).  Back to Star Trek, this Klingon Bird-of-Prey looks pretty sweet, maybe “sweet” is the wrong word for talking about a bad guys ship, but it does look pretty cool.  This set is 236 pieces and comes with 4 figures.  Comparing this one with the U.S.S. Enterprise, the scale is obviously smaller, but that would make for some great make believe space battles.  Imagine having a few of these attacking your U.S.S. Enterprise.

Now while I do admit that I am a fan of Lego, these Kre-O sets have me rethinking construction sets.  I mean the compatibility between Lego and Mega Bloks makes it so you can have your Star Wars Legos and your Halo Mega Bloks battle it out for control of the universe…at lease that’s what I would do with them.  The Kre-o do have a one-up from the other sets due to their Lighttech Technology and I wonder what else they can do with that. These two sets are great and I can only wait to see what they come out with in the future.

The final set is the set we are giving away to one of our lucky readers; Spock's Volcano Mission.  This set is 141 pieces and would be a a great introduction to the Kre-O universe.  As a way to thank our readers for supporting us we've decided to share with all of you one of the items that was given to us.  What do you need to do to win this item? Simple, just follow the directions on the Rafflecopter and spread the word to your friends.

Good luck and as always, thanks for reading.
