It is a new year and the Fandads are all new too...not really.
Alright, a month into the new year and how many of you have already broken your New Year's resolution? We here at Fandads made one to post more often and I think we are so far doing ok.....ok, maybe not. Let's take a look at the crystal ball and see what's new and what 2015 has in store for us. This is kind of like the Fandads State of the Union, but we'll call it the 'State of our Blog".
Let's start with the design. Not much has changed but we did tweak it a little and it might go through a few more changes by the end of the year. One of the things that you may have noticed is the header picture by local artist Rafael Nieves. Rafael is a good friend of the blog and we are fans of his Bob Howard: Plumber of the Unknown series. Check out "Unca Raffy" on Facebook and tell him that the Fandads sent you.
Tabs, Tabs, and more Tabs
If you noticed the the new tabs at the top of the site we have decided to make it easier to find the things you like. If you just want to read about the toy reviews we did over the year, hit the tab at the top. If you just want to read about our thoughts on being a dad, click the "Dad Life" tab at the top and etcetera. We thought by having the tabs at the top it would help our readers look for the things that they like about our site and maybe expose them to new things.
Contests, Giveaways and Screenings for all
We will continue having our contests and giveaways this year so be on the look out for them. We have already done a screening and will continue to do more in the future. Remember to keep checking our Facebook page along with our website to keep up to date with the announcements we make regarding our contests.
Dad 2.0 Summit
This year we will be going to San Francisco to participate in the Dad 2.0 Summit. You can read about my thoughts on it here. This is a great opportunity for the Fandads and will hopefully lead to bigger things. I know I will have a good amount of stuff to write about after the summit, but the one thing I'm looking forward to is meeting all the dad bloggers I interact with online.
Are you a Fandad and have something you would like to share with us? We are always open to receiving submissions from our readers. If you want to write about something fun and cool that you do with your kids, share it with us at Fandads@gmail.com. One of our goals is to create a network of Fandads and who knows, maybe we can all get together and hang out one day. That leads us to....
Chicago Dads Group
We have been event organizers for the Chicago Dad Group for a few years already and it is a great community of dads from throughout the city. We get together for playgroups and occasionally have a few "Dad Night Out" events where we just relax and have a few drinks together. If you are a dad or a dad to be looking for a group to hang with, check us out by clicking on the group link on the sidebar. If you don't live in Chicago, you can find a local group in your area too by visiting the City Dads Group website.
There you have it our "State of the Blog" and hopefully we will live up to these expectations. As we continue to grow we will continue to improve our content and make sure that you are enjoying your time with the Fandads.
As always, thanks for reading.
