Having fun for a great cause. #RedNoseDay

Parents how many time does this scenario sound familiar? You're children are telling you that they are hungry and when you get dinner prepared and set on the table they say that they are not hungry. Sometimes they say that they do not like what you made for dinner or come up with some other excuse. Sadly, while your children have the luxury of being picky about what they eat there are many children that do not have this option.

So what can we do to show our children and others around the world that this is a situation that we can change? How can we unite and raise money to help those children enjoy a nice warm meal when they want it? The Fandads have teamed up with Red Nose Day to promote their upcoming event on May 25 in hopes of helping to raise awareness of this situation and what can be done.

While it may seem a like a silly way to raise money for children it is a fun way to let people know about it. When I took the picture above at my local Walgreens, a few people asked me about the event and I, along with a few employees, told then about the the event and how buying something as simple as a nose can help the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, charity: water, Children's Health Fund, and Feeding America to name a few.

So how exactly do these simple purchases help out these causes? Here is a breakdown we received that may put things in perspective.

$1 can provide 11 meals for hungry children through Feeding America food banks
$1 can buy a meal for a child living in a homeless shelter
$5 can help pay for the medical supplies for a doctor’s visit on a mobile clinic
$10 can provide essential immunizations for a child in need
$10 can help provide a safe place for an at-risk child in America to go during the summer and after school
$15 can provide medical supplies for three mobile clinic doctor’s visits
$30 can provide one person with access to clean water in Uganda
$50 can provide one year’s tuition, supplies, and textbooks for a child in a developing country
$100 can provide food, clothing, shelter, and medical care to help get a child off the street

In the days leading to Red Nose Day the Fandads will be posting pictures on our Instagram account to show people how easy it is. If you have bought a red nose make sure you share your pictures on Instagram and let's make this year's Red Nose Day a success.

In addition to the pictures people are sharing to promote Red Nose Day, NBC is going to have some special programming that night. Check out their official press release below:

NBC is celebrating Red Nose Day with an expanded night of special programming in support of the cause, airing May 25. The three-hour primetime block will both entertain viewers and give them an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids in need. “Celebrity Ninja Warrior for Red Nose Day” – the first ever celebrity edition of “American Ninja Warrior” – will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT followed by a very special episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls for Red Nose Day” featuring Academy-Award winner Julia Roberts venturing to Kenya at 9 p.m., leading up to NBC’s third annual “The Red Nose Day Special” hosted by Chris Hardwick at 10 p.m. The special includes the much-anticipated “Red Nose Day Actually,” a short “Love Actually” reunion film from writer-director Richard Curtis, who is also the founder of Red Nose Day. This is the first time the night of programming for Red Nose Day has included special editions of existing NBC shows, which is evidence of the network’s deep partnership and commitment to the cause.

So let's have fun this week and make a difference in the lives of millions of children all over the world.
