Disclaimer: The Fandads received an advance copy of Second Act in exchange for a review and giveaway opportunity for our readers. All words, thoughts, and laughter are our own.
Jennifer Lopez is pretty much everywhere at the moment. From judging dancers on World of Dance to preparing to launch a nationwide tour and now she is going to continue to take over your television with her latest movie, "Second Act. So what can we expect in her latest role? Keep reading to find out.
The official word is for the movie is that "Maya (Lopez) is a 40-year-old woman struggling with frustrations of not having achieved more in life. As an experienced, quick-witted, perceptive employee, she is passed over for a promotion solely because she doesn’t have a college degree. Until, that is, she gets the chance to prove that street smarts are as valuable as book smarts and that it is never too late for a Second Act."
Now, while it seems that we may have seen this movie before. this one has a twist that kind of seemed a little too far fetched. I guess this twist was to give the movie a new angle, but it also was just strange that it was in the movie. I know you are all wanting me to say what the twist was, but you have to see the movie for yourself.
The movie is has a pretty good message to be yourself, but not before it shows how being someone else can help you in a way. There are consequences for lying about who you are and the movie shows us what those consequences can be. The dichotomy of being two different people is something that many people can relate to when it comes to wanting to impress their co-workers, but also have to learn how to keep it real with their friends and family.
If you are a fan of J. Lo, you will not find any fault in this movie, but if you are a casual fan, you will think that the could have done a little more with the storyline. The acting is decent and it would not be a Jennifer Lopez movie if there is not a scene of her dancing in it.
