Learn about the Science of Speed with Acceleration Nation by NASCAR

Disclaimer: The Fandads were compensated for this post to talk about the new NASCAR Acceleration Nation App. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Since watching the Cars movies with my children they know a little about NASCAR and motorsports, but they never really learned much about the science of racing. What does a blue flag with a diagonal yellow stripe mean? What is the difference between "downforce" and "drag"?

If you have your children asking you questions like this then you need to download the new Acceleration Nation app by NASCAR. The website and app, which is available on Android and iPhone, features fun games, info on races, details on cars, and learning materials about the science of racing!

Staying on the Road with Quaker State. #CambioConfiable #CollectiveBias #ad

The first car that I ever had was the family car; it was a small Chevrolet Chevette. Everyone in my family learned to drive in that car. My mother, my sisters, my cousins and eventually I, myself, learned to drive with that car.  My dad and I spent many hours working together on that car to keep it going and it was because of him that I learned how to work on my own cars. I wish I had a good picture of that car, but that was before camera phones, so I had to find a picture of it online.

Chevy Sonic and Klout

If any of you know my history with cars, you know I have bad luck with them.  If they're not overheating on me, they're breaking down on me at the most inopportune moment.  I wish I could buy a new car, but the way things are, I'd rather do some homework on my next car so I know what I'm getting myself into.

Last November I was given the opportunity by Klout to have a Chevy Sonic for 3 days. This couldn't come at a better moment. My car at the time was acting up, so having a free car for a few days was gong to be fantastic.
