Learn about the Science of Speed with Acceleration Nation by NASCAR

Since watching the Cars movies with my children they know a little about NASCAR and motorsports, but they never really learned much about the science of racing. What does a blue flag with a diagonal yellow stripe mean? What is the difference between "downforce" and "drag"?

The Acceleration Nation site and app is a great resource for newbies and veterans of NASCAR to get familiar with the ins and outs of NASCAR. It is a fun, entertaining and educational way for kids to learn about NASCAR! You children can learn about NASCAR drivers, tracks and can also learn about the science of speed and more through videos on the website and app. The site does a great job of showcasing the drivers and giving you essential information about them as well as some fun trivia.

While there is some kids games on the site, what better way for your child to use basic principles of STEM than by learning all about the science of racing. Your child can learn how the aerodynamics of the car helps it to race at such fast speeds. This is great for those that want to go witness a race in person or mark it down on their calendars so they will not miss the race.
