National Husband Appreciation Day (yeah, that's a thing)

Hey Dads, does the image above look familiar? You come home from work and are trying to relax or in my case, trying to catch up on some posts and you are overwhelmed. Well, what not treat yourself to something nice this like a show and a massage to celebrate National Husband Appreciation Day.  (Yes, friends, this is a thing.)

Yes, this is the same Episode I shirt that I showcased here to you earlier in the week in black, but this one is all white.  I have said it before and I'll say it again, I went a little overboard on the merchandise.  I guess I wanted everyone to know that a new Star Wars movie was coming out, either that or I just liked t-shirts a lot.  

As you can tell by the creases, I haven't worn this shirt in a long time.  I think one of the reasons for that is because I bought it in an extra large.  Don't know why I bought it in such a big size, but I did.

Why I Teach.

My little girl came to visit me one day.

I’ve been writing a post titled “The Overwhelmed Dad” for a while now and I keep putting it to the side, because I don’t want to sound like I’m being whiney about being a dad.  While I keep going back and forth with this post, I get ideas for other posts that I would like to write and then something like this happens to me.

Potty Training

The Fandads and The Rock...It Could Happen! We are Official #SuperMilkMan Entrants

Thanks to the Life of Dad site we were given a great opportunity to be featured in their "30 Dads, 30 Days" posts earlier this year. Now, again thanks to this site, we are an official entrant in the #SuperMilkMan contest where we can win a trip to hang out with The Rock.  Imagine that: Finally, the Fandads meet the Rock in Chi-caaaa-goooo!!!  Well, I don't know if that's where we're going to meet, but either way, IT DOESN'T MATTER where we meet. Whatever does happen, the Fandads will go one on one with the great one. (Alright, enough catchphrases.)

So what do we have to do to meet The Rock?  We have to make a 10-15 second video on Instagram and post it here, Facebook, Twitter and just spread the word about #SuperMilkMan.  Pretty easy right? The question is can we match the ultimate #SuperMilkMan, The Rock? Remember his commercial during the Big Game? (Trying not to get in trouble by using the actual term)  Here's a reminder:





I think our video can top this. We are just waiting for Zach Synder to finish the storyboards and then it's showtime.  So keep an eye on the space below to witness the awesome that we are creating.  (Man, I'm hyping this up too much.)

Fandad's Short Take "A Day at the Zoo"

Every now and then your child will say something to you that completely takes you off guard. Yesterday, while riding the Merry-Go-Round at Lincoln Park Zoo, my little girl said something to me that brought me to tears.

As the Merry-Go-Round was moving I let go of the bar of the animal next to me to hold on to the giraffe my little girl was on. She looked at me and told me to not let go of the bar because she did not want me to fall off. She next said that she didn't want me to get hurt because I was her "brave friend, my best friend and I love you and we won't have fun together if you're hurt."  I gave her a kiss on the forehead as my eyes teared up and told her I love her too. I held on to that bar as we rode around and around and we both waved happily to my wife when we saw her standing on the side with our little man. 

Kids say the damnedest things sometimes.

What's Going on with The Fandad?

Sometimes our everyday life grabs a hold of us and doesn't let go.  This is the situation here with the Fandads.  While we are trying to keep the site updated and tease a few posts we are working on here and there, life comes around and kicks us in the behind and puts everything on hold.  So what is going on with the Fandads, well he is a quick run down.

This Mother's Day we teamed up, because that's what superheroes do, with our Dad Bloggers group to celebrate all the mother's in our lives. This collective card is the brainchild of Scott Behson of the Fathers, Work, and Family blog. Together we can share our celebration for the moms in our lives with our friends and possibly expand this great community of ours.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Blu-Ray Combo Giveaway.

Remember the first time you saw The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and though to yourself, "It would be cool if they can go back and make The Hobbit into a movie". Well, you were not the only one. Peter Jackson has returned to the beginning and has given his fans something that they have been waiting for and has broken this story down into a trilogy too. The first in this series The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is being released on Blu-Ray and DVD this Tuesday March 19 and Fandads is giving away one Blu-Ray/DVD combo to one of our lucky readers.

Baby Number Two is On the Way, So Why am I Freaking Out!

Lately I have been writing about how my wife and I are expecting our second child in April and how our little girl is excited about having a new brother or sister (we're not finding out the sex of the baby), but while I am confident and all smiles on the outside, inside I am freaking the F*@k out.

What Will Happen When Dad Bloggers Form a Group on Facebook?

Recently A Blogger and a Father came up with a crazy idea: What if dad bloggers formed a Facebook Dad Blogging page to network, share ideas and support each other?  You would think that something like this might not work.  Something so awesome like this will just implode on itself, but be it that it has only been up and running for a few days, this might be a great thing for dad bloggers. 

While each of us has our own niche that we write about, this group is open to all forms of dad blogging.  The great thing about being in this group is that it can help out the new, small bloggers but it can also give these blogs more exposure.  There are a lot of great ideas being tossed around on the page right now that I think this will grow in a great community.  So if you're a dad and have a blog, head on over to the Dad Bloggers Facebook page and click on the join button.  You will not regret it!

Chicago Toy and Game Fair

Last year Fandads went to the Chicago Toy & Game Fair and we had a blast. (Read about our visit here).
